There’s no single look that works for every kitchen, which is why the range covers a lot of ground. Mediterranean and coastal prints bring warmth to open-plan dining spaces. Botanical herb charts and coffee or wine guides suit kitchens where the subject matter feels at home. Abstract prints in terracotta, sage, or warm neutrals work well in contemporary kitchens without competing with the rest of the room. For something with a bit more personality, vintage-style cocktail posters and food and beverage prints are consistently popular above a bar cart or dining table.
Choosing the Right Size
A useful starting point: art above furniture should cover roughly two-thirds of the width of the piece below it. For a 150cm dining table, that’s around 100cm of art — either a single landscape print or a grouped arrangement of two or three smaller pieces. Browse two-piece and three-piece sets for pieces designed to work together, or go bold with extra large prints on bigger walls.
Framing and Format
For kitchens, framed prints with glass fronts tend to be the more practical choice — easier to wipe down and better suited to humid environments than exposed canvas. Our frames are made from FSC-certified solid timber in raw oak, black, and white. Framed poster prints are produced on 250gsm satin photo paper using archival pigment inks. Canvas options — both stretched and floating-frame — are printed on 380gsm premium satin canvas using HP Latex printing. All pieces arrive ready to hang.
Where to Hang It
Above the dining table and above a breakfast bar are the two most common spots. Other good positions include beside the fridge, above a sideboard, or propped on open shelving. Keep art well away from stovetops, sinks, and direct splash zones to reduce exposure to steam, grease, and moisture. For renters or tiled walls, removable adhesive hooks may suit smaller framed prints, as long as the hook is rated for the weight of the piece.
Order With Confidence
All kitchen prints are made to order in Perth and shipped free Australia-wide. PayPal Pay in 4 is available at checkout. If your order arrives damaged or has a quality issue, contact the team at support@wallartcollective.com.au — see the full returns policy for details.
Kitchens suit art that reflects the environment — botanical illustrations, still life prints featuring fresh ingredients like citrus or herbs, coffee variety guides, wine region maps, or abstract pieces in warm, appetising tones like terracotta and sage. The key is choosing something with a considered palette that complements your cabinetry and benchtops rather than competing with them.
Above a dining nook, next to the fridge, above a breakfast bar, or styled on open shelving — these are all great spots. Avoid hanging art directly above a stove or sink to prevent damage from steam and grease. A minimum distance of 48cm from active cooking zones keeps your artwork in good condition.
Follow the two-thirds rule: your art or gallery grouping should cover approximately two-thirds of the width of the furniture below it. A dining table that’s 150cm wide pairs best with around 100cm of art — whether that’s a single piece or a curated grouping.
Yes, if framed correctly. Solid timber frames with glass fronts provide the best protection against minor splashes and humidity. Canvas is generally more vulnerable to moisture than framed paper prints, so if you’re placing art near a sink or stove, a framed print is the safer choice.
As a general guide, hang your art so the centre of the piece sits between 57 and 60 inches (roughly 145–152cm) from the floor. When hanging above dining furniture, drop it slightly lower so the art feels connected to the table rather than floating above it.
Absolutely. Framed and curated family photos are a wonderful way to add warmth and personality to a space built for gathering. Mix them with other prints for a gallery wall that feels genuinely personal.
Give the glass a gentle wipe with a soft, slightly damp microfibre cloth every few months. For stubborn grease buildup, a small amount of diluted white vinegar on the cloth works well. Avoid abrasive cleaners or anything solvent-based. For the timber frame, use a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one to remove dust without soaking the wood.
Heavy-duty removable adhesive hooks are your best option for lighter prints — look for ones rated at 2–5kg and follow the instructions carefully for a clean removal. For a styling-forward approach, leaning prints on open shelving or against a wall looks intentional and works surprisingly well in kitchen spaces. On tiled walls, adhesive picture strips designed for tiles can work for lighter pieces.
Avoid positioning glass-fronted prints directly beneath pendant lights or in line with recessed downlights. If glare is unavoidable, try angling the frame very slightly forward at the top, or consider a battery-powered picture light mounted to the frame for a warm, focused glow that reduces reflective interference.
Oak frames work well in Scandi or timber-heavy kitchens. Black frames suit a modern or industrial look. White frames complement coastal or Hamptons-inspired styles. All of our frames are made from sustainably sourced hardwood and are built to last — quality details that quietly make a big difference.
